  1. i think the dresser is amazing. there i said it.
but i wonder if you can get brass plates cut and use nail head trim on a very plain ikea dresser and hack it?

    1. I think it’s amazing too. I’m sure it could be hacked but just the thought that this was one of those vintage 1970s dressers made in Spain and I didn’t fight harder is what makes me so mad 😉 Even the hubby asked me what’s wrong with me?

  2. The dresser was lovely, and I am sure you will find the perfect dresser in the end..I have been going to auctions for a year now, and I see those kind of people all the time..They have the cash and they have to have it…the worst kind to bid against..I buy beat up furniture, and I am not bidding on the prettiest furniture in the room, and sometimes before I even wake up sort of speak, they are bidding way higher then my budget is..I use to take it really personal, and get mad and frustrated, and I realized it is just a piece, and there are many other out there. The right one will come along…you will see.

    1. True! I’ve been going to auctions for a long, long time, I think 15 years now, but it depends which auction house I go to and who is there. I still get lucky sometimes 😉

  3. I think it’s a special dresser, maybe I won’t spend that big amount in that, but if you like it, follow your heart!!
And by the way, what’s a moron award?thanks!

    1. 😉 A moron is an idiot… I gave myself the idiot of the week award!

  4. Ooo Poo! Sorry you missed out on this one. But… I do love the “moron of the week” award. Sounds catchy! : )

I’m so with you on this one! I have one or two favorite op-shops (thrift stores) tucked away as my secret go-to places when I’m looking for anything unusual. So last week I found myself shelling and searching for driftwood down at the beach (I’m aching for a driftwood Xmas tree this year!), when I should’ve listened to my inner self and headed to the Mission Shop first. BIG mistake! Can you believe that when I eventually got to the op-shop, I found exactly what I’d been searching for??…only they were being smugly carried around in the hands of someone else! How typical and annoying is that?! You’ve no idea how long I’ve coveted these vintage Pyrex bowls – they’re not just your average old bowls – they’re the themed American ones which are like gold around here! To make matters worse, my much prized bowls were happily being walked around the shop by a woman who could only be described as a DEALER – my worst nightmare come true! I’m so in tune to these ‘pestilents’ of the auction, antique, car boot and garage sales world, having experienced them firsthand while living in England for sixteen years. This particular ‘hunter gatherer’ wasn’t your average dealer granted, but I am absolutely convinced that she runs a stall at the local weekend market, and I’m absolutely convinced that these $2 bowls will be on her table this weekend for around the $10-$15 dollar upwards mark! I.feel.sick! I keep kicking myself that I didn’t listen to that little voice in my head, and get there first. So my dear blog-land buddy, I get where you’re coming from and why you’re feeling like you do. I’m there too. Hx

    1. Oh no! I’m glad I’m not alone 😉 At the auctions I run into the same dealers every time. I’ll just have to wait for day when they are on vacation LOL
