It’s Monday and for me it’s a fun day! Yay, I’m getting ready to meet sweet Cassie from Primitive and Proper. I’m all giddy! We’ll pop some tags at some thrift stores and have lunch. I can’t wait to meet her because I love her blog. Hopefully I’ll tell you all about it on Wednesday.
Let’s talk about my weekend. I was pretty productive and I got a little skiing in last night as well.
One of the things that I did is apply my idea of using wood slices in a small project, or lets call it a small update. I mentioned them in my Hobby Lobby post last week.
Well, I couldn’t wait for the free ones to appear out of a friends yard. Since they were all way too wet and I didn’t want to wait weeks or months for the tree stumps to dry so I could have a few slices.
I found a really good price for them on Amazon with free shipping. I got the large slices for the same price as the smaller ones would have cost at Hobby Lobby.
Click here to check them out on Amazon. While I expected to see round slices, I was surprised that they were irregular shaped. And you know what? It’s so much better this way. I love how they look.
So are you wondering what I wanted them for?
Well I have several animal heads hanging in our bedroom. I bought a ceramic rhino head two years ago at Ross for $13.99 (great price, right?) and since I felt he looked really lonely, I asked for some heads from ZGallerie for Christmas. I didn’t share pics of them after Christmas. But now it’s time to share.
This is the hardware that I used for the back of the slices. You can find them at every hardware store. The wood was soft enough that I didn’t have to pre-drill and I was able to just use a screwdriver to fasten the hooks with the screw by hand.
I took so many photos because I love how the animal heads look now. Sorry some are a little blurry.
Yes, this is one of the new Hobby Lobby knobs.

I’m thinking of actually doing something with the dresser. There is too much dark brown in our bedroom right now.
Have you ever seen a dinosaur flat screen TV? Well, now you have because mine is, LOL.
What do you think? Aren’t the heads awesome on their wood slices?
Talk to you on Wednesday.
