I really, really, NEED to paint my bathroom walls and was planning to use firring strips of wood to do a mini board and batten on the lower half and now I am truly inspired. Thanks so much.

I did not realize that your “My Lowes Mirror Makeover” was hyperlinked. And I would have just cried if I broke it, but you know, I like it better with the frame part open even better I think….. decision now… liked the mirror back too… but hey you made it work and that is what counts. Or at least I think I understand about the broken part?

Julia, I love it! The powder room is one of those spaces where you can go bananas (in a good way) and make a small box of a room interesting. I love it, love it, did I say that already? xo Kristin

I love those walls. I saw the sharpie tutorial on Vintage Revivals and have been seriously considering doing something similar in my hallway. Looks amazing! Btw- My mom is the same way. ha! She eventually comes around when she sees the finished product, but during it….she hates it. lol

I love the dots on the ceiling, what a nice surprise when you look up! The powder room is definitely the hardest room to take pictures of, that’s why I haven’t done it yet!

I love it! It looks so fun! My mom always tells me not to do things and that it is stupid too! One time I told her I painted my foyer and hallway a goldish color (it was a goldish/tan color) and she said, “I can tell you right now that I won’t like it and never will”!!! She loved it and ended up using similar colors in her own home when she repainted! Mom’s can be funny!! (can’t we!!)Love you room!~ Darlene

    1. LOL thanks Darlene. That’s the way mom’s work. Mine likes this too now!

  31. Elena Sullivan says:

Hi Julia,My name is Elena and I am curating a collection of Sharpie projects for Looksisquare(dot)com. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Looksi but it’s a lot like CraftGawker: they display a thumbnail image from your blog along with a short description and a link back to your original project. Typically you would submit your own images (like you do on CraftGawker) but they also have curators (like myself) who do theme based round ups. I think this would be perfect for my collection which will be published this Friday. Please let me know if you *don’t* want it included so I can remove it.Thanks!!

  32. Jess @ Spool and Spoon says:

Oh my gosh. In love. Seriously. Swoooooon.Do you mind if I ask how it’s holding up? I loveeee gold sharpie, but what I don’t love is how the metallic tends to fade weeks/months later leaving a flat grayish-greenish-goldish color behind. I’d love to do this in a nursery, but couldn’t live with myself if I did an entire 11ft wall just to see it go flat in a few months.

    1. Hi Jess, so nice to meet you. I have to say that it is holding up really great! I wanted to take the risk since this is the cheapest wall treatment I have ever done, so if it goes bad, then I only wasted my time.

  33. love those gold polka dots! it’s making me want to buy some for my girls’ ceiling in their shared bedroom…just scared that I’d never get them straight on the ceiling and that it would take forever!

  34. Can I ask how did you do the stripes? I am struggling with how to measure them and how to get a long straight line. Thanks! Love love love the look.
