Today is our church anniversary! We have been married by law for 15 years (and that’s the anniversary we celebrate because that’s when I changed my name) but by church only for 14 years. I had to get my affairs in order before I was able to leave the country to get married in church in Germany 14 years ago today.
There is a funny story about my wedding dress that I always have to tell. When I originally picked my dress, I wanted to buy a simple flowing white chiffon dress, which I found pretty early on during my shopping trip at the local wedding dress shop in my hometown. I really wanted something simple and elegant. When I was ready to wrap things up after trying on “the” dress, I asked the sales lady if I could just once, for fun, try on the historical dress that they had in the window, because I had never had the chance to wear something like that. Well….well…well when I had it on everything changed. I think I went back to being that little girl that wanted to be a princess once in her life and I completely changed my mind. I picked the yellow, cream and white historical dress. I was so thrilled and excited.
A little later that week my hubby-to-be showed me a little video he made of our hometown. I had also filmed the store front of the place where I bought my dress and I heard him stating loud and clear how ugly he thought that yellowish dress was that they had in the window!!! SAY WHAT? My heart sank and I was so upset! My mom told me that we couldn’t change out mind anymore since we bought the dress and made alterations already. So that was it. I was going to wear the dress that my groom thought was so ugly. Hurray!
On our wedding day I was so nervous but guess what, he didn’t even recognize the dress. Thank heaven! He actually loved the dress!
So now I’ll share some more photos we you. But I have to warn you, they are bad quality. I feel like a dinosaur when I have to admit that the wedding was pre-digital. And I couldn’t rip the photos out of my parents album to scan them.
So this is all I got 😉 sorry my friends:
