Living Pretty With Your Pets: DIY Show Off
Today I have someone to share with you who was my first influence when I started blogging. I’m pretty sure you guys know her already if you’ve been around the blogosphere for a while.
Roeshel from DIY Show Off was the first one to ever feature one of my projects and I was so super nervous to approach her because I thought anybody would write me off as a completely insane “crazy cat lady”.
So, I have to tell you guys that I adore her and her two furry kiddos.
Hi Cuckoo4Design friends! I’m so super excited that Julia has invited me to participate in her Living Pretty with Pets series! I’ve enjoyed reading the loving stories, meeting the sweetest bloggers and their cute furry family members. I’ve “met” Julia through blogging but it was her love of animals and pet DIY that brought us together over her AH-mazing outdoor cat enclosure which I had the pleasure of featuring. Isn’t it one of the most creative pet DIY projects ever?! Don’t show your cat. #envy Oh! I’m Roeshel. It’s nice to ‘e-meet’ you! Our pets are a big part of our lives at DIY Show Off too and they’d love to make your acquaintance.
Meet Lalka: (her name means ‘doll’ in Polish). She’s our beautiful rag doll cat. Favorite past times include dog bullying, bug chasing, mouse catching and cat-napping. When I’m working on a DIY project, Lalka likes to contribute plenty of cat fur and supervision…just to make sure I’m doing things right. She’s pretty verbal with her own opinions on how I should be doing things.
She has the most beautiful blue eyes…
and a diva personality…
She’s daddy’s little girl and super spoiled!
Meet: Coco-Rosie. It took me a while to warm up to opening our home to another dog as just thinking about the loss of our sweet doxie, Niski, still brings tears to my eyes. But a little over a year ago I decided that my empty nest was just too quiet, especially since I work from home. I happened upon a classified ad for an Italian greyhound. He was no longer available but oh my gosh…so cute. That made me look at the Italian greyhound breed. Traits included small in size, short fur with little shedding, imaginative, funny, snuggly and affectionate and gentle. All qualities that appealed to me. I submitted an application to our tri-state Italian greyhound rescue looking for an adult female. It took a few months to find a match but when I met Rosie at her foster home, it was love at first sight. 8 years young and 10 pounds of cuteness! Those eyes…
She’s super sweet, always (and I mean ALWAYS) by my side, so loving, so obedient, well behaved and well-trained. She was obviously loved. It breaks my heart that someone had to give her up for some unknown reason but I sure am thankful to have her in my life too.
Because she’s my velcro-dog, she often photobombs my project images. Her favorites are those created in her likeness.
As a DIY blogger, I’ve had fun showering these two with some fun pet DIY projects…

Tschüß,
Oh I love this post! I love my babies too! And I love rescue stories. Especially the grey haired ones. They seem to be the ones most often overlooked. Everyone wants the cute puppies it seems. I’m going over to sign up for her blog and look forward to seeing more . Have a great weekend, Hope
Yay, I’m glad you liked the post and I agree, the grey haired ones are mostly overlooked but they are “oh-so” sweet.
love roeshel and i am so glad she opened her home to a new pup, too! and i love the pic of her looking up at the dog art!
About time Roeshel……… grin. I love your little fur babies….. both Lalka & Rosie. I remember so well your window seat for Lalka and I still plan to copy it. I am dreaming of Julia’s Kitty Walk. I also want to build a combo window seat and pup house for my three pups in my ever so tiny bedroom. I never manage to get to a rescue place……………. seems the fur babies in my neighborhood tell all the strays to come to my house. All of my beautiful babies are just off the street. When I searched and advertised for their people I got nothing……… so they have a home with me now. And they each say they are happy.
How sweet they are Roeshel! Lalka is so pretty and Coco’s eyes would just get me too! I’ve been thinking of getting another dog but decided it would be from a shelter, so far we haven’t found each other!
Roeshel’s pets are so cute! And she is the sweetest blogger I’ve met in person, too!
Thanks everyone for your sweet comments! xo And Julia, thank you so much for letting me “show off” my pets! <3
Your fur-angels are precious. Thanks for sharing their beauty with us.
I so wish my big lugs would appreciate some nice things we have around our home and not see everything as their’s to chew as they see fit. Not that bad but it does make us live the minimalist type of life as far as things are concerned her at
