Boys room with hints of soccer
I guess this is the week of kids bedrooms. In my Monday’s post (click HERE if you missed it) you got to see an adorable nursery and today I’m showing some small changes I have made to my son’s room. I still want to change some more things though. He has simply outgrown the way his room looked with all the Mario Brother’s characters in it. At 12 years old he is obsessed with soccer now and that’s why I’m trying to give him a boys room with hints of soccer.
Here are just a few updated photos and if you click HERE then you can see the before with the decals in it. I’m still looking for a new light since the old Ikea one is way too “babyish” 😉
I still love love love his French antique bed that I bought at an estate sale in France when I was 16 years old. I already loved this stuff as a teenager and it helped of course that I had a boyfriend who’s mom was an antiques dealer. Ah the good ol’ days. I had the foam mattress custom made.
Now I’m looking to possibly add a modern fixture yet. It’s still a work in progress. Lets see. I’m also trying to come up with some ideas for our bathrooms yet.
I think on Monday I will finally have a post about all my paint colors I use in the house. So stay tuned to find out about these greys as well.

That bed is amazing! Such a great find as a teenager. I like how simple your son’s room is.
That bed it just a stunner! Love the flags.. can’t wait to watch it evolve!
love it, julia! i love the stripes and the banner! it looks cozy and chic! and hello that bed.
I love it Julia! Those flags and that fantastic antique bed! It’s going to be perfect!
Thanks Brynne
It’s wonderful, Julia. That bed is dreamy! 😉
Wow–that bed is amazing! It’s a little sad when they outgrow their younger kid rooms….but at least you have an excuse to redecorate :). I love doing kid rooms
Yes that is sad, gets me every time. They are fun to decorate but not when they are messy all the time and he is quite messy 😉
Everything about your home is beautiful.
Thank you Sheryll
oh my goodness at that bed!!
Haha thanks
That bed is incredible!! I’m so impressed that you got it when you were 16 and still have it!! Especially since you had to bring it to the states! You never cease to amaze me!
I had it shipped over here in a container with just a few of my other favorite things. I’ve always loved it. Some things are just timeless and this definitely fits that timeless category. I’m afraid our son won’t fit into it for that long though because it is a very short bed 🙁
Love the room and the bed! I have a very similar bed sitting in our garage! I was hoping to use it for one of the boys one day, but it doesn’t fit in their room now that they’re sharing. Maybe I’ll still find a place for it. 🙂
I’ve seen them used as daybed sofas in living rooms and loved that too. Nice place to hang out and read a book or take a nap 😉
I love the flags. Great touch. And that bed is STUNNING.
Thank you
Thanks my friend
What a great boys room! Love all the color with the neutral gray backdrop. Awesome!!
I’m still thinking about adding some more grown up pillows and colors, thank you Jane
That bed is gorgeous!
Thank you
LOOOOVE the bed! So you’ve always had fabulous taste in decor in furnishings? That is very cool!
I wouldn’t say that 😉 but I was always interested in this kind of stuff 😉 but thanks
Cant believe you got that bed when you were 16! Its so gorgeous!
You should have seen the homes and antiques in Brittany, France. The estate sales were amazing!!!! And it’s always been in my blood I guess 😉
It looks fabulous Julia, I absolutely love that vintage bed. And the bunting is perfect!
Thanks Krista!
Julia that bed is AMAZING!!!! I can’t believe you bought it when you were 16 – so impressive! You had an eye for design at a very early age. I also love how you paired the antique with the more modern grey striped walls, such a great contrast.
Thank you Lisa! I was always interested in this kind of stuff 😉
