Living Pretty With Your Pets: Christina’s Adventures
Hey friends I’m back with another Pet Friday but first I want to announce the winner of last week’s camera giveaway. So if your name is Natalie, then please check your email because you won.
Today I have a sweet and talented blogger for you who lives actually not too far away from me but we have never met in person. I hope we can change that one day soon. Please meet Christina of Christina’s Adventures and her adorable doggy.
Hey Cuckoo 4 Design readers! I’m thrilled to be over here today sharing about my sweet little dog baby. Â The timing couldn’t be more perfect – we adopted Buckley 5 years ago this week!
My husband and I had been searching shelters for a few months without any luck. Â We just didn’t find “the one”. Â We thought we wanted a medium sized dog, but when this little 17 lb. lost dog just wanted to be held and cuddled by us at the shelter, we both knew he was coming home with us!
Adoption Day – April 19, 2010
Buckley quickly adapted to life in our little family, and he was absolutely our “dog baby” before we had “human babies” 🙂  He just loves cuddling in any pile of blankets and getting as close as he can be to us:
He had a pretty quiet existence until the summer of 2013 when we welcomed our son into the world.  Poor Buckley wasn’t sure what to do about this new family member!  In all honesty, it took him a while to adjust.  He tends to be a pretty nervous dog.  Just as he would get adjusted to our little guy, Isaac would begin a new developmental stage (scooting, crawling, standing, walking…).
They have (thankfully) finally figured out how to live life together.  Buckley has quickly realized that Isaac is very willing to share his snacks, so that obviously makes him worth keeping around 😉
We began our latest adventure a few months ago – we are renovating a 1902 Victorian house into our “forever home”. Â Buckley comes along with us for every work day, and is a real help on the job:
Buckley and Isaac both have fallen in love with the new deep window sills in our “new” (old) house:
It’s bittersweet to sell our old house – we are so excited for the things to come, but we will certainly miss this house that we’ve put SO much work into! Â I think Buckley will miss this sunny window seat the most:
If you follow me on Instagram or read my blog, you’ll see Buckley as part of our normal and every day life. Â He’s such a sweet dog who loves to be in the middle of everything.
Adopting Buckley was one of the easiest and best decisions we ever made! Â We can’t imagine living life without him!

Such a sweet story once again and as always it melts my heart to see a rescue animal find a happy home. Buckley and Isaac together are so sweet. They look like best friends now.

So precious! I love it when people rescue these fur babies. My boy (Shih Tzu) is a rescue and the best dog ever! Off to check her blog and new home.

Thanks, Pat!! We will forever be a “rescue dog family” because of this sweet little boy! 🙂
I love rescue stories too Pat.
What a absolutely adorable little twosome.
Agree Sheryll 😉
oh goodness…what a cutie! The photo of Buckley hoping for a dropped snack is so classic (and so familiar ;))!
Haha I’m sure you have the same scenarios all the time.
Buckley and Isaac are just too adorable. I’m so thankful you adopted Buckley. I just wish all the little fur-angels in shelters and animal control facilities could be. They all so deserve it. We have adopted so many through the years and have adored each and everyone of them and so miss them when they cross Rainbow Bridge. We have 3 now and are looking to adopt another one.
I look forward to reading your blog and seeing your beautiful home. Thanks for sharing your sweet story.
I also wish people would adopt from shelters more and give them a good home instead of buying from breeders and stores.
Ohmygoodness! What a beautiful home! And baby! And puppy!
🙂 I agree!
Awwww what a gorgeous little pup!! And that kitchen is amazing! xxx
