4th of July thoughts
Hey there, so sorry for my sparse posting and on top of it a Saturday post! Yuck who posts on a Saturday, right? I know you guys have much better things to do then read my post on Saturday, let alone 4th of July, am I right?
Well for me it’s a special 4th of July! It’s the first one as an American citizen and I get to spend it at my favorite place on earth…the beach! In Avalon, New Jersey! Love coming here and enjoying a slower pace for once. Being beach bums with the kids is the best thing ever to me. From sun up to sun down, going for walks, digging holes, finding creatures, eating good food and spending time with great people. To me that’s what an American 4th of July should be all about.
I was a beach bum for the past couple of days and haven’t done much blog reading but I have to admit to doing some serious magazine and window shopping. For some reason I really have it in my head that I need a beach cruiser/bike now and when I saw Denise’s Instagram feed (The Painted Home) and her new bike this past week and she told me it was from Walmart. Yeah Walmart of all places! I had to do some more research.
Check them out, aren’t they darling? And you see them everywhere here at the beach:
The first one or last one are totally speaking to me, so cute right?
And then I noticed in my Instagram feed that the amazing artist, Rachel Kozlowski who creates the animal plates that I have in my kitchen (click HERE to see them and HERE to buy them) has more plates being released for West Elm. Aren’t they cool?
I need to buy them when they are available online!!! And she said they should be soon. But like I mentioned before, she also does custom work for people and their specific pet requests. Believe me, it’s on my list of things I want.
I also bought this adorable boho purse which is perfect for some beach side shopping:
Don’t be annoyed with my very unpatriotic shopping thoughts today but that’s what happens to me when I sit on the beach. You probably expected more, didn’t you?
I’ll be gazing at beautiful homes and landscaping for the rest of next week yet though and might come up with more random crap that you’ll have to put up with since there isn’t any DIYing going on.
Happy 4th of July from this happy new American (even though there wasn’t one American flag in this post). Hope you guys have a phenomenal weekend.

Wow, you are blog reading on a Saturday and a holiday? Thanks so much and sorry I have been such a slacker lately with my reading. Happy 4th!
You need that purse! And for sure one of those bikes.
Celebrate your first 4th! Again I am so, so proud of all you have accomplished.

Thanks so much for always being there Patty! Happy 4th of July!
Those bikes! *heart eyes emoji* I need one, and then I need a lovely beach to ride it near 🙂 Sounds like you are having a wonderful time – happy 4th of July!
I’m glad others have blog reading issues too!
And I think you need a bike like that too just like me. Happy 4th of July
P.S. I have been so bad at keeping up with reading and commenting on my favorite blogs lately! I’m hoping to do some catching up today 🙂
those bikes are adorable! Happy first 4th as an American citizen 🙂
Thanks Gretchen and to you too
Never demean yourself when you post us….on any day. Although I am new to your blog I signed up because I found it interesting and loved that you were a new American and so proud of it . And you worked so hard at it. So a very Happy 4th of July. May you be blessed more and more every year.
I just got back from my morning bike ride so I loved your bike feature. Those are so cute and fun and useful. Mine is a bit like a cruiser and has the platform to carry things on the back though I haven’t used it yet. Next week I’ll head to the library and grocery store to see how it works. A basket on the front or back might be good, too. What color are you going to get? You’d look pretty riding any of them. Have fun!
Oh thanks so much Joan, that means so much to me! Happy 4th to you too.
I’d love to have a mint or turquoise one although I don’t know where I would ride it to where we live basket on the front is so European and I live it. Good luck with your new bike
I love all of those bikes but I’m terrified to ride a bike. No reason at all just pure fear. Hope you had a wonderful 4th and are soaking up your time at the beach!
Julia, I’m so happy for you as a new US citizen! I hope you’ve had a lovely time at the beach, it looks wonderful!
