Living Pretty With Your Pets: The Gathered Home
It’s Pet Series Friday again but before we get started I wanted to also tell you that I will be over at “The White Buffalo Styling Co.” today to talk about what I think my style is. It was kind of hard to come up with a description, not kidding. If you remember she was here last week talking about her gigantic puppy Gracie, so I’m over on her blog today for a change. Go check it out.
This Friday I’m so happy to introduce you to Brynne and Abby from “The Gathered Home“. I totally remember how I found Brynne’s blog and that was through Miss Mustard Seed’s Furniture Feature Friday. She had featured Brynne’s story about how she found her Chesterfield Sofa (click HERE to read).
I knew immediately that I would enjoy her posts and humor. That girl can write and find some awesome vintage pieces on Craigslist too. I’m obsessed with her brass bed she found. I actually really want it badly.
And on top of it she is adorable…I mean look at her, right?
And her little Abby is so cute. She reminds me of a little black panther. I was so surprised to read her story about how she got her (click HERE to read). The little Halloween cat.
So here they are, meet Brynne and Abby:
Hello! I’m Brynne from The Gathered Home! I’m super excited to be here today on Julia’s blog because she is kind of my blogging idol and also because she is the coolest crazy cat lady around! (When I “grow up” I want to have just a fraction of her style and heart for animals.) I’m also super excited to introduce you to my Abby-girl.
I adopted my little black kitty on Halloween 13 years ago (read more about that here), so she’s actually been a part of my life now for more years than she wasn’t! Abby has always been there for me – curled up at my feet, calmly watching me with her big amber-green eyes, always ready to listen. She’s a great listener, and even carries on a conversation at times. If I cry, she gets incredibly distressed and starts meowing at me and sticking her cold nose in my face to see what’s wrong. If I get ridiculously excited about something and start jumping up and down (well, it’s been known to happen) she just sits there regarding me sardonically until I calm down. In short, she’s the perfect best friend.
Fun facts about Abby: Her full name is Abby Chrysanthemum, but she goes by many nicknames: Abbykins, Abigania, Abbsy Wabbsy, Fabs or Babs, Catniss (or Fatness) Everdeen… Those are just a few, but she will answer to almost anything that has an “ab” sound in it! Abby hates to be held…
But loves to cuddle.
Especially with hands…
(I probably shouldn’t admit this, but she actually writes most of my blog posts…)
In fact, today Abby wanted to take the opportunity to share with you some of her favorite “living pretty with your pets” tips. Abby’s Living Pretty With Your Pets Tip #1 – A little black cat goes with everything. Also, still loving chevron…
Abby’s Living Pretty With Your Pets Tip #2 – Tufted leather looks good and it’s comfortable and durable.
Abby’s Living Pretty With Your Pets Tip #3 – It’s all about that natural lighting.
Abby’s Living Pretty With Your Pets Tip #4 – It is important to buy furniture that is both stylish and comfortable for felines.
Abby’s Living Pretty With Your Pets Tip #5 – A big “yes” to leopard print. (Surprisingly?)
Abby’s Living Pretty With Your Pets Tip #6 – Despite what you may think, festive holiday outfits are not enjoyable for all involved.
So there are Abby’s stylish living tips for you! I hope you enjoyed meeting her and hearing her perspective on interior design – she can be an opinionated little lady, especially when she’s insisting that it’s time for second breakfast 😉 Thank you Julia for letting us stop by for a visit!
So sweet, am I right? If you love vintage furniture, don’t forget to check out her vintage furniture finds (click HERE). Love them all!

Wow – Abby looks so much like my Sloan…I LOVE black cats! Thanks for sharing her with us!
Julia, thanks so much for having us here today – you are the absolute sweetest! Abby and I both enjoyed the photos & writing the guest post so much 😉
Adorable Brynne! Abby is totally a mini panther!
Eep, Abby’s making her debut across blogland!
I had a good laugh when Brynne mentioned that Abby is really the author behind the blog! Boy does Abby have quite the vocabulary!
We have tons of nicknames for our beloved baby girl too, nicknames mean they’re keepers right?!
Abby is just beautiful. I have two like her.. all black except a tiny white patch above her little too too. Both are gals. Then I have Sadie Lady multi colors. And my precious Shaymus.. he is my darling Irish boy.
And oh gosh, the canines are in an uproar now…. they insist on being written about also. Sunshine Maltese Mommy, her husband Shadow The Poodle & then Skippy…. think he is a Terrier? lol, he is cute is all we know for sure.
Pretty cat! I love the picture where she’s looking extremely nervous but as tolerant as she can manage about being held 🙂
Gretchen, that perfectly sums up our relationship! I want to cuddle her to death and she tolerates it 😉
Too cute!
Such a fun series! Love her duvet too!
Abby is lovely and has such great advice!
Thanks, I thought so too. She is one stylish and smart kitty 😉
