Feeling Inspired by Fiberart aka Macrame
I’m so so sorry once again for my lack of posting lately. I have way too much going on over here and I just haven’t been able to do it all. We just returned from a fabulous annual weekend to Smith Mountain Lake. It always feels good to hang out with good friends, eat and drink the day away and watch our kiddos play. But to get to that point you have to pack and clean and plan and all that amongst dealing with our daughter’s issues and putting new floors in. Do I need to say more?
And next week I have a very big week coming up for me. I will be taking my citizenship test. I have waited for this moment for a long time and I’m so nervous and exited at the same time. So please forgive me if I’m not keeping up with my regular posting schedule right now.
While we were visiting our friends and their parents home at the lake I got a huge surge of inspiration when I saw Mrs. C’s wallhanging in her bedroom.
This gorgeous piece of macramé was purchased about 10 years ago and I have googled my heart out to possibly find something similar and I have been thinking about a way to DIY it. Isn’t it so different. I love the thick texture and and wrapped strings.
Almost exactly a year ago I posted about my newly found love for this retro/vintage form of wall art (click HERE to read it), when I posted these wallhangings sold by Urban Outfitters. But I haven’t added one to my home yet.
While googling my heart out I came across “The Brick House” where Morgan found a similarly textured wall hanging on ebay (HERE). Isn’t it fabulous?
So now I have my wheels spinning on how to make something with so many strings and so incredibly textured. But I have to finish the flooring first, that is the hallway and both kids rooms and the carpet isn’t torn out yet either.
And I also got my dog fix this weekend by carrying this little cute fluffy girl around.

That is the first piece of macrame that I have actually loved– it’s so pretty.
I think so too. It stopped me in my tracks.
These are so cool!
Don’t apologize! Goodness girl, best of luck on your test! And that wall hanging is phenomenal. Nobody says you need to finish the floors before you tell us how to make a piece like that 😉
those are so cool! They look like they’d be a ton of work to make, but I’m sure you could do it and make it look awesome 🙂
Yay for the test! I remember you talking about studying for that eons ago! Good luck! And holy moly, those first two wall hangings are GORGEOUS!! Wow, I would love to own one of those.
Yes I started to last year but then it all took much longer and I just had to recently pick up my flash cards again.
I’ve been into this look lately too – thinking of something for my littler daughter’s room down the road. Her bedroom hasn’t it made it very high on my priority list yet! I love the thick and thick juxtaposition of that inspiration one fro the lake house. Good luck on your test!!!
That would be so cute for your daughter.
Yay! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you – good luck on your test, Julia!!! You know I LOVE fiber art these days – I’m especially crazy about that first one you posted – so elegant! And the one from The Brick House has incredible colors! I’ve seen some really awesome ones on eBay/Etsy for pretty good prices, if you decide against making one yourself… But if you do tackle it, I can’t wait to see!
Ha, I have actually considered buying one. Yarn isn’t cheap, so a DIY project will be extensive too.
LOVE those fantastic wall hangings!
And I’m sorry your plate is so full right now! I hope things calm down a bit for you after your test. GOOD LUCK!!! You’ve got this! Xo!
Thanks, I hope things will calm down too.
the blogging mojo might not come back until after this summer 😉
So unique! I love all the great texture and interest they create!
ooh, i love that one The Brick House found! Check Etsy (or even IG) for weavers/macrame.
I love that one too. I’m keeping my eyes open for an affordable one
